Nazi Arms Abundance Taunt To Democracy’s War Workers
LONDON, Oct. 7. Drawing attention to the supply situation and citing Hitler’s remarks that the German army is so well off for ammunition that it has been possible to close down some factories, the “Daily Express” recalls Mr. Churchill’s recent statement in the House of Commons, and points out that he “warned us that the Germans have an abundance of all weapons except aircraft.” It takes three years to build up an adequate supply organisation, the “Daily Express” states, and while British and American production is only now reaching this position, “Hitler got on the flood tide before the war began.” Selling Weapons After stating that Germany -is offering to sell weapons to other countries, the “Express” emphasises that, while this is no cause for despondency, it is a grim reason for taking seriously the power of Hitler’s war machine, and concludes: “That our enemy should offer to fling surplus weapons about the world is his taunt to the arms’ workers of Britain and America. They will not leave it unanswered.”
