Suggests Combined Kamo Stock Sale
Suggested with the idea of saving benzine foi’ farmers and stock agents, a proposal that combined stock sales at combined centres should be considered was brought before the quarterly meeting of the Whangarei SubProvincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union yesterday by Mr F. Simmonds. In placing the proposal before the meeting Mr Simmonds said that such a procedure should lead to more competition, more stock being offered and a general all-round betterment. The president (Mr A. Briscoe Moore) said a similar proposal had been considered by the executive about two years ago. The whole question had been thrashed out thoroughly and a committee had been set up to meet the heads of local stock firms with whom a meeting had been held. War Measure One firm, however, had not favoured the proposal and would not cooperate with the other firms who had been favourable. Mr Simmonds: This is a' war measure brought about by benzine being in short supply. About CO selling points in the North could be considered, said the president, on whose motion it was decided that the secretary should write to each stock firm, operating in the Whangarei district to ascertain views on a weekly consolidated sale at Kamo.
