To Meet Wellington Flood Damage

[Per Press Association.— Copyright] WELLINGTON, This Day. Authority for urgent storm damage repairs to be begun immediately at a cost not exceeding £IO,OOO was granted by the Wellington City Council last night. It was also decided to seek the immediate enactment of an amendment to the Municipal Corporations Act empowering the council to spend money to meet flood damage, to, assist property owners and make advances to them. Councillors emphasised the need for immediate action. Fears were expressed of the possibility of a recurrence of the trouble on a similar scale. Suggestions were made that restrictions be placed on the erection of buildings on precariously situated sections.
