Whangarei Golf Club Championships

The flag match played during the weekend was won by C. Benfell, who carried the flag to the front of the 20th green. The first round of the club championship has resulted: Senior division: W. J. Rollings won the Kaikohe Golf Club’s championships on Sunday with 83, 80—163 from R. Johnston (Kawakawa) 83, 81—164. There were 52 entries in the contest which was keenly contested. In the medal round played during the morning, A. Borrows (Kaikohe) was victorious with a net 69, Lovegrove, of Russell. being runner-up with 71. J. Smith, Okaihau, was the winner of the Stableford played during the afternoon with 37 points, Lovegrove again being runner-up with 35 points. The Russell team, comprising Houlihan, Poutawera, T. Cross and Shadbolt, won the champion team contest, while A. Borrows, W. Hollings, R. Lincoln and P. Sutherland won the handicap team contest. Mr. H. J. Keenan, of the Russet! Club, presented the trophies and congratulated the winners. Members of the Kaikohe Patriotic Committee catered for the function, and as a result of fees obtained from the club and money raised by raffles, the patriotic fund will benefit by over £22. BROADWOOD GOLF Another round of the Webster Cup match was played at Broadwood on Sunday. results being as follows: Mrs. Middleton, 100—27, 73; Miss P. Hall, 105—28, 77; S. Mansbridge, 83—14, 69; R. Wiggins, 91—16, 75. |

In the button competition, H. Mansbridge and S. Mansbridge challenged the holders, F. Holland and N. Hunt, the latter retaining the button by winning 2 up.
