Northland H.G. Commander To Be Lieut.-Colonel
[Per Press Association.—Copyright] WELLINGTON, This Day. The following appointments and promotions in the Home Guard are announced in last night’s Gazette: Major-General A. Young, from the retired list, to be Brigadier, and is appointed Director-General of the Home Guard at Army Headquarters. Captain John Lawson Turnbull, retired list, is promoted to temporary Major on appointment as staff officer, second grade, of the Home Guard at headquarters. Colonel M. Aidred, retired list, to be colonel, and is appointed district director, Home Guard, Auckland district. Group Directors The undermentioned are to be lieu-tenant-colonels and are appointed group directors for the areas mentioned:—Major A. W. Short, Area No. 1; Captain E. C. N. Robison, Area No. 2; Major J. H. Herrold, Area No. 2A; 2nd Lieutenant H. F. Chandler, Area No. 3; Lieut.-Coionel R. D. McFarland, Area No. 4. Colonel R. St. J. Beere is to be colonel and is appointed district director, Home Guard, Wellington. Captain G. E. F. Kingscote is to be colonel and is appointed district director, Home Guard, Christchurch. Lieut.-Coionel A. S. B. Smith is to be colonel and is appointed district director, Home Guard, Dunedin.
