To Eliminate German Menace In Iran
TBritish Official Wireless] (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY. September 3. Negotiations between the British and Soviet ministers in Teheran and the Iranian Government are continuing. and it is not possible at present to make any statement as to the stage which tne negotiations have reached. The main . British and Soviet purpose in these negotiations is to ensure the completion of the task which compelled their forces to enter Iran, namely the elimination of the menace represented by a large and potentially dangerous German community in that country. It may be assumed that the instructions given to the British Minister, who is closely collaboraing with his Soviet colleague, are such as to ensure that this menace will be effectively and fully eliminated within the shortest possible time. Moreover Sir Reader Bullard's instructions cover the question of the future, not only of the German legation, but also of the legations of other Powers now under German control, and it is stated in authoritative London quarters that there are no valid grounds for apprehension which have been expressed in some quarters in regard to this point. To Be Interned It can be assumed that the German menace in Iran will be effectively eliminated as soon as possible. The British United Press Ankara correspondent says that according to authorities the Germans in Iran are to be interned under the final AngloRussian agreement with Iran. German women will be allowed to leave the country.
