Caught In Milking Machine, Child Fatally Injured

Caught in the revolving shaft of a milking machine at about £.45 last evening, Beverley Keogh, the three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Keogh, of Towai, received injuries from which she later died. Mr. Keogh is a dairy farmer and last night, the evening milking being late, Mrs. Keogh decided to help her husband in the shed, this not being her usual practice. Just after milking had commenced, the little child who had wandered into the shed was caught by her dress by the revolving shaft of the machine. The child was whirled round the shaft three times before the engine could be stopped and her skull was fractured. While being taken to hospital the child died.
