Australian Air Risk.—lt is the belief that mass bombing raids would not threaten Australian cities without ample warning, and no official action is to be taken at present to provide air-raid shelters, says a Melbourne message. It has been decided to concentrate on blackouts and fire-fighting precautions. Reprisals Against Britons. —The Germancontrolled "Paris-Soir” urges that all Britons in France should be placed in a concentration camp as a reprisal for Royal Air Force raids on French territory. It adds; “Whenever Frenchmen are killed by British bombs, an equal number of British internees should be shot." Ramming U-Boat.—The “London Even ing Standard” publishes a graphic series oi photographs showing a British destroyer, steaming at full speed, ramming a U-bcat, which was forced to the surface by a depth charge. The destroyer passes over the submarine, which lies shattered. Afterwards a boat from the destroyer picks up the survivors. Belgian’s Sacrifice.—A Royal Air Force pilot, Jean Max Gutt, son of the Belgian Minister for Defence; has been killed in action during a night flight. He was to have received his wings this week. His father attended his son’s funeral and pinned the Croix de Guerre on the tunic of the dead airman.
In Ulster. Another contingent of American technicians and workers has arrived in Northern Ireland to undertake work under the Lend or Lease Act.
