Until the commencement of the National Patriotic Appeal £47/11/11 was raised by the street stall and raffles. Maori Donations “We also received most acceptable donations from two groups of energotT,Maoris. The Maoris of Oromahoe sent us £lO/5/-, and those of Otiria contributed .€29/12/S. We are deeply grateful for these donations and to those who organised and worked for the appeals. “After the national appeal began we stopped till our money-raising efforts with the exception of the “boh nops." Ten were held, bringing a net income of £OO/10/(1.”. the report stated. “Classes have been held in home nursing, first aid, hygiene and motor mechanics. Unfortunately head office, in Wellington, lost track of examination, papers for the motor mechanic: class, and this lias causd a lot of bother. However, we have been informed that all have passed and that the certificates will soon he ready for presentation. "Those who sat for the other examinations have all shown a high standard. Nine members took the V.A.D. course at hospital, i think they enjoyed the experience, and 1 know the liospital staff appreciated their work. Finances Sound “Our financial position is most favourable. The total expenditure was £7l/14/4, and the balance carried forward this year is £15(1/12/5. “Finally I would most earnestly invite new members to (lie classes, particularly the younger generation. The knowledge will never come amiss, and in times such as the present may be of great, value to the community.''
