Big Sum For Renewing Electric Power Lines

During the coming year the Whangarei Borough Council proposes to expend £2OOO on the renewal oi various electric-power lines in the borough. To carry out this work the council passed a resolution at its monthly ■meeting on Tuesday night, calling on the Depreciation Fund Commissioner to provide the sum needed for the work. The council has created a fund for such renewals and this sum is called upon when necessary, by resolution of the council, for the money required. Work To Be Carried Out The schedule of the work to be carried out, all of which is for rebuilding lines, as submitted to the council by the electrical engineer, Mr. J. W. Dawson, was as follows: William Street, Arthur Street and Douglas Street, £150; Whau Valley Road, £160; Kamo Road between Percy Street and boundary, £520; Lupton Avenue between Manse Street and Wrack Street, £300; Manse Street, £200; Russell Road from Manse Street to new bridge,, and Wrack Street, right of way to Russell Road, j £240; Tikipunga, £80; Puriri Park i Road, Maunu, £200; renewing services, £l5O.
