Japanese Consul Prefers Britishers

VANCOUVER, July 13.

Mr Ichiro Kawaski, who was recently appointed Japanese ■ consul at Vancouver, and who had spent four years at the Japanese Embassy in London, said in an interview today: “We are not. committed too deeply to the Axis, and are not vassals of Germany. “The Germans are difficult people to deal with, but the British are compromising.” - Mr Kawasaki said he looked for a renewal of trade relations between Britain and Canada and Japan. “We have much in common with the British people,” he added. “Like them, we are a seafaring nation, dependent on world trade. We are not like the Germans. They are ruthless and uncouth.”
