Quality Of Petrol Has Not Deteriorated

[Per Press ' Association.— Copyright.] WELLINGTON, This Day. “The quality of our petrol has not deteriorated,” said the Oil Fuel Controller (Mr. C. L. Laurenson) today. “I have had representative samples of motor spirit analysed, and the results have shown that in every respect cur petrol is up to standard.” Mr. Laurenson said the recent cold weather had coincided with complaints about the quality of petrol. The change to winter conditions and the increasing proportion of short runs, might have had something to do with the complaints.

“They are certainly not due to any deterioration in the quality of the standard petrol which .is marketed throughout the Dominion,” he added. "Modern high-compression engines are designed and tuned for running on high octane or super fuel. Quite satisfactory performances, however, can be obtained from these engines if they are correctly adjusted for running on standard petrol.”
