Ruakaka Soldier Killed In Action
News has been received in Whangarei that Private Frank Joseph Antunovich has been killed in action. -Private Antunovich was born at Ruakaka about 26 years ago and spent practically all his life in the North, chiefly in the Whangarei district. He was educated at the Kokopu school and was then engaged at farming in the Whangarei and 'Northern Wairoa districts. He went overseas with the Third Echelon and saw service in Greece. His mother is now residing at Taumarunui, his father having died about two years ago. A brother is farming in the Kaitaia district. Sapper R. 11. Raff Advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Baff, of Maunu Road, that their son, Sapper Richard Harry Baff, has been reported killed in action. Sapper Baff went overseas with the Third Echelon as a member of the specialist unit attached to - the New Zealand Engineers. He served in Egypt before going to Greece, through which campaign he went safely, being evacuated to Crete, from where his relations last had news of him.
