Lady Galway Guild’s Activities
During the past week 17 cases of clothing and quilts have been forwarded by the Northland Lady Galway Guild for despatch to Britain. The majority of the quilts had been, made from woollen waste, while others had been made up from lambs’ wool collected from fences and other places. The clothing comprised chiefly winter garments. The members of the guild in Northland have now collected and sent forward a considerable quantity *of clothing and other articles for the civilians of the bombed towns of Britain, and are continuing their activities. The last consignment that went forward came chiefly from the Hokianga, Dargaville, Paparoa and Maungaturoto districts. In connection with a number of the quilts, great assistance is being given by school children, who carry out the tedious work of cutting the wool from discarded cardigans and other woollen garments. These fine pieces of wool arc sewn to form a quilt.
