King’s Birthday Hockey Tourney

Preparations are in full swing for the all day tournament at Kensington Park on Monday (King's birthday holiday). The number of teams is less than last year owing to prevailing conditions, but five teams will be coming from Dargaville (three ladies' and two men’s) and one from the military camp. Altogether 33 teams will be competing and this will mean the playing of about 82 games.

Pavilion Moved

With permission granted from the military authorities and the Whangarei Borough Council, arrangements have been made to shift the pavilion to the new grounds. An innovation is the fact that water will be laid on and all conveniences will be available for Monday. Permission has also been granted for the inclusion of the ladies' teams and with four grounds available, everything should go without a hitch. Providing the weather bird is kind spectators should be treated to a good day's sport.
