Dead End Kids Head Plaza Double Bill
Amusements
Seeing the Dead End Kids play heroic roles instead of city toughs is the revelation offered in “The Dead End Kids on Dress Parade,” which opened at the Plaza Theatre last evening as principal offering on the double-feature programme. In a complete reversal of form, the wise-cracking, long-haired gutter-harden-ed denizens of the slums become model youths although still with plenty of hooliganism, at one of the leading American military academies. The story is concerned with a tough city lad who is sent to the academy to learn the finer side of youth, where he meets the other Dead End Kids, who are already model cadets. Scrapes in plenty result as the cadets endeavour to instil their feelings on military training into the city tough. The second feature, “The Biscuit Eater," is the heart-thrilling story of two boys and a dog. The title of the film does not signify a box office attraction or a film out of the ordinary, but, in fact, the story is grand and brilliantly acted.
Royalty.— The Queen and the Duchess of Kent on Wednesday visited the Royal Academy, where for over an hour they mingled with the general public, visiting the exhibition. Her Majesty was particularly interested in wartime studies, and spent some time looking at pictures of air raids on London.
