Killed By “Hit And And Run” Motorist
[Special to “Northern Advocate”] WANGANUI, This Day
Struck by a car which is alleged to have failed to stop, a Maori, Charlie Waerata, aged between 30 and 35, was killed on the main road, about two miles north of Waverley. Waerata, who lived at Waitotara and was employed at the Patea freezing works, was returning home at about 7.30 p.m: when the car he .was driving was involved in a minor accident with another vehicle. Both cars stopped and deceased was endeavouring to extricate his vehicle when a car travelling in a northerly direction knocked him down.
