King Demonstrates Good Marksmanship

LONDON. May 2

The King demonstrated his ability as a marksman when, with the Queen standing nearby, he fired 20 rounds with a Thomson sub-machine gun on a visit to a range in the south of England. Of three shots fired from the shoulder, one narrowly missed the target, a wooden silhouette figure of a man, and the other two hit the figure in the neighbourhood of the heart. The King fired the remaining shots in two bursts from the hip, spraying the target from side to side. The King and Queen also visited an establishment for training officers for staff duties and watched an instructional film, one purpose of which was to show the best methods of attacking German tanks and planes.
