Water Supply To Onerahi, Harbour Board
The question of water supply to Onerahi was again before the Whangarei Borough Council at its monthly meeting last evening.
The works committee recommended that the Onerahi Town Board should be advised that the council, before agreeing to any alteration to the existing water main across Victoria Bridge, would require the board to investigate the whole of its own pipeline, ;ihe investigations to be carried out by the council’s turncock at the board’s expense.
It also‘recommended that if the inspection proved to be satisfactory, the borough engineer should be authorised to proceed with the installation of an additional 4-inch pipe across Victoria Bridge at an estimated cost of £95.
The recommendations were adopted.
Supply to Harbour Board.
Consideration of the extension of the water main to the Whangarei borough boundary at Limeburner’s Creek was given by the council, the works committee reporting that a deputation from the Whangarei Harbour Board had waited on it in connection with the proposal.
The borough engineer had .reported that the estimated cost of extending a 4-inqh main to the boundary would be £9OO, the committee reported.
The committee recommended that the council should adopt in principle the proposal to extend the borough water supply to the boundary at Limeburner’s Creek so that the harbour board might be in a position to continue a pipe-line to provide what facilities were required at its wharf at Kioreroa. The recommendation was adopted.
