No Foreign Food For U.S. Armed Forces

WASHINGTON, April 1. The Senate today adopted by 32 votes to 29, an amendment to the 4,389,000,000 dollars supplementary defence bill to restore the prohibition of purchases by the army and navy of Argentine canned beef and other foreign products. Senator Tobey introduced a resolution seeking to prohibit the convoying of merchant vessels by U.S. warships.

Aid For Britain

A survey by the magazine “Fortune” shows that 6.6 per cent of the population still opposes the shipment of arms to Britain.

The figures also indicate that 38.4 per cent are in favour of sending “about half the available materials”, to Britain and 22.5 per cent favour sending all or most. Sixty per cent believe that the “chances are 55 or better” that the U.S. will eventually send its navy and air force to Europe.
