French Fear Nazi Invasion From Spanish Morocco

Information from Casablanca shows that the French in Morocco are apprehensive of an invasion from Spanish Morocco, says the Lisbon correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph.’’ Indications supporting these fears include an influx of Germans into Tangier, the reopening of the German consulate there, and also the arrival of German officers to join the armistice commission at Casablanca.

The Germans apparently plan to get Spain to move on their behalf by offering the Spaniards the prospect of securing French Morocco, although General Franco is still reluctant to involve his country with Axis fortunes, because the feeding of Spain depends upon Britain and America.
