Dancers Killed When Hall Bombed
(Rec. 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, March 16. Many were killed and injured when a bomb directly hit a dance hall in the London area last night. The blast overturned a trolley bus, which caught fire and was burnt out. A rescue worker said most of the passengers in the bus were killed. It was like a nightmare. Pedestrians sheltering in doorw r ays added to the death roll. There were between 100 and 200 dancers in the hall, mostly young, regular patrons of a weekly dance. Bodies Flung on Roadway
A huge gap v/as torn in one end of the hall and the bodies of soldiers and girls flung on to the roadway. Rescuers worked through the night to extricate victims. Several of the injured died on the way to hospital.
Another bomb wrecked a bank cn the opposite side of the street and damaged a public house. A number of men were taken to hospital.
A few raiders bombed several London districts on Saturday night, but the damage was small and casualties were not heavy.
