Belfast Nest. —The police at Belfast seized an arms dump in a factory at the north end bf the city. It included a machine-gun, many revolvers and much ammunition.
Swiss Prepared.—The Swiss radio announced that the Government has called up an unspecified number of reservists. It is officially stated that the purpose is to safeguard Switzerland’s neutrality in view of forthcoming developments of the war, though the country does not expect to be threatened.
Thyssen.—The German industrialist, Fritz Thyssen, is among a group of well-known political refugees living in the south of France, whom the Vichy authorities are reported to have handed over to the Germans recently under the armistice terms.
U.S. Aliens.—The United States Attorney General (Mr Robert H. Jackson) advised Congress that the alien deportation policy had failed because cf present world conditions. He suggested a new plan for their detention in the United States in various categories, some on parole and undesirables confined.
