Kaikohe Escapee Still At Large

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] KAIKOHE, This Day

The police search for William Mokaraka, who escaped from the Kaikohe lock-up on Wednesday .was continued over the week-end without success.

Mokaraka, who is a Maori labourer, aged 21 years, was seen in the distance by police on Saturday afternoon, but owing to the rough, broken nature of the country in which he is hiding, it was not possible to apprehend him.

He is still in the bush in the vicinity of Mataraua, about six miles from Kaikohe, and has evaded capture by staying in the thick bush and scrub. Mokaraka is sft 9£in in height, has copper complexion, long black hair, large eyes, and a flat nose.
