No Justification For Pig Trade Uneasiness
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. A prominent pig exporter yesterday gave an assurance that there was no justification for the uneasiness that existed among producers regarding the prospects for the overseas porker and bacon trade. The anxiety of producers to dispose of their stock had been reflected during the last week in the congestion at the works and in the dislocation of the buying and collecting services.
The exporter said that buying schedules had now been adjusted to meet the altered outlook in the industry, but, apart from this, there was no justification for any uneasiness in the trade. Producers were advised to follow the normal procedure in the disposal of their pigs, as any other course would only aggravate the situation and prolong the period of adjustment, to the disadvantage of all concerned.
