Patriotic Dance At Tangiteroria
A most enjoyable and very profitable dance was held in the Settlers’ Hall last week, in aid of the Patriotic Fund. Lively music was provided by Ces Wright’s Orchestra and the M.C. was Mr. R. Murdoch. Farewell Dance. The people of Tangiteroria and surrounding districts turned out in full force last Friday evening to honour four of the boys, Privates J. Taylor, J. Bale, W. Clotworthy and W. Lane. The evening was a lively one, the hall being filled to capacity. Dancers came from Whangarei, Dargaville, Tangowahine, Pukehuia, Maungakaramea, Mangapai and Ruatangata. Spirited music was supplied by Ces. Wright’s Orchestra. The M.C.’s were Mr. C. Palmer and Mr. R. Murdoch.
Mr. R. Murdoch, on behalf of all present, presented each of the soldiers with a sum of money. Pte. J. Bale also received a gift from the members of the Young Farmers’ Club, of which he was the first president, and a very keen member. The dance closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
