Nazi Motorised Units Clash With British On Libyan Coast
Received 12 Noon.) LONDON, February 26. A GERMAN COMMUNIQUE SAYS: “BRITISH AND GERMAN n PATROLS MET ON MONDAY SOUTH-EAST OF AGEDABIA, ON THE LIBYAN COAST.
Our units destroyed a number of British lorries and armoured observation cars and captured prisoners. There were no German losses.”
The Rome correspondent 4 of the “Frankfurter Zeitung,” says the news that German motorised units have landed in Tripoli despite the British blockade has caused the greatest enthusiasm among the Italians, who are concentrating their hopes on the German motorised units taking the offensive against General Wavell’s forces.
CONCENTRATE IN SOUTH ITALY. German motorised units have been concentrated in South Italy. This is the reason for the recent overburdening of Italian railways.
An Italian communique says the Italians are resisting enemy pressure at Jarabub and Kufra (Libya) and are also resisting east of the Juba River (Italian Somaliland).
