Weather Delaying Moves In Bulgaria
(Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 26
The tense expectancy in Sofia is-re-lieved only by the knowledge that the weather at present is unfavourable for a German move. Refugees arriving in Istanbul from Constanta, the Rumanian Black Sea port, aboard the steamer Dacia, in which the Egyptian Minister and members of the legation staff left Rumania, say that German troops in Bucharest do not attempt to hide the fact that German troops are entering Bulgaria. Advance Expected Daily.
They declare that preparations are complete and expect to move within two or three days.
Refugees saw more German troops in Constanta than in Bucharest. Officers, mostly of the Nazi air force, fill all middleclass hotels at the Black Sea port and strong detachments are guarding vital bridges linking Bucharest with Constanta.
The weather has improved sufficiently to enable Bulgarian and Rumanian shipping to resume on the Danube up to the Yugoslav frontier, says a message from Bucharest.
