Power For Far North Comes First

[Special to “Northern Advocate”] KAIKOHE, This Day.

“I don’t want to see the people in the Far North wait any longer than they have to for the installation of power,” said the chairman (Mr A. E. Bisset) ,at the monthly meeting of the Bay of Islands Electric Power Board at Kaikche yesterday.

“The people in the Bay of Islands had their chance,” he said, “and we shouldn’t take on people on the outskirts of the Bay area until the far north has had its chance.”

He was speaking to a letter received from residents in the WaimatenuiTwin Bridges district requesting inclusion in the Bay Power Board’s reticulation.

It was debatable wnether the settlers were in the board’s area or that of the North Auckland Power Board. It was decided that the engineer go into the matter and report to the next meeting.
