Second Ballot Completed Tomorrow

WELLINGTON, This Day,

The second ballot for the Expeditionary Force commenced today and should be completed by tomorrow. Nineteen thousand men are to be selected, compared with 14,000 in the first ballot.

On the results obtained in the Territorial ballots, more than half of those selected should: be fit for service.

The ballot is being taken on a Dominion basis, not by districts. The names will be gazetted on the evening of March 4. and consequently will be published throughout the Dominion on March 5. It is understood that the 33,000 men drawn in the two ballots will be a good many thousands short of half the total number of men in the class.
