Northland Lads At Forts Of Fine Type

Northland youths serving at the Auckland forts have received high praise from the Commanding Officer. The Whangarei Area Officer, Major H. P. Conyers-Brown, said today that the Commanding Officer at the forts had said that the lads from Northland were of a better physical type than those from any other district. He said that they were all of a fine type and keen to get on with their instruction.

Northland has sent many youths tc the Auckland forts, and now a number of these have been drafted for overseas service. They are being replaced by other youths from the area. On Thursday of this week, three more youths, D. T. Shepherd, A. I. Heape and G. D. Palmer, will be going to the forts to join the 9th Heavy Regiment of the N.Z.A.
