Italians Admit Bombing Of Turin, Savigliano
(Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON. January 12. An Italian communique says British planes last night dropped incendiary and explosive bombs on Turin. Houses were hit and three people killed and four wounded. The British also raided Savigliano. where a military hospital, houses and a church were hit. “In Albania our counter-attacks inflicted appreciable losses on the enemy,’’ the communique adds. “Units of the German air force attacked important groups of enemy ships in the central Mediterranean and hit a cruiser. “There was artillery and patrol activity in Libya, where the enemy repeatedly made air attacks on some of our bases. Two Against So Many ! “Two Italian torpedo boats in the Sicilian channel attacked an enemy naval formation and torpedoed a cruiser, which afterwards was seen sinking. “A violent engagement followed with enemy destroyers and cruisers. Fires were seen aboard two destroyers. One Italian torpedo boat was sunk.”
