Invasion Ports Plastered Again By R.A.F.
LONDON, December 25
The Royal Air Force .again attacked Hitler’s invasion ports on Monday night.
The “Daily Mail” says the onslaught, which appeared to be the greatest for many weeks, was specially significant in view of rumours of a possible Christmas invasion. From the British coast the flow of falling orange flares was visible through the mist shrouding the Straits of Dover. ' There was an almost continuous roar .as bombs rained down on the enemy-occupied coastline from Boulogne to Dunkirk. Referring to the previous night's raids on Mannheim, which were comparatively short, the Air Ministry says it is now known that great damage was caused in the earlier attacks. The raid was the seventh on the town this month.
The Rhine harbour was hit, barges were sunk, and river traffic was seriously impeded. Railway traffic to France has had to be diverted to a less satisfactory line.
