Kawakawa

A ladies’ night was held on the 18th to farewell Mr and Mrs Bill Squire, who are leaving the district shortly. A very enjoyable evening was spent. Music was supplied by Mrs F. Barke (piano) and Captain Stanley (violin). Items were supplied by the Frivolity Four, tap dancing by the Frazer family and songs by Mr Middleweek. Mr H. Gribble gave a humorous recital entitled “The Same Old Game.”

During the evening, Mr Luske presented Mr and Mrs Squire with suitable electrical gifts. The evening closed with musical honours and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”

Arrest.— The Gestapo has arrested the Rev. Dr. Grueber, who is famous for his efforts on behalf of non-Aryan Christians, says a Berlin message. He has been interned in the" same camp as Pastor Niemoller.
