ADMINISTRATORS IN NEW CALEDONIA FREE FRENCHMEN

(Received 11 ,a.m.) NOUMEA, December 19

The first session next Saturday of New Caledonia’s new Administrative Council—which replaces the former Privy and General Councils—will reveal almost a clean sweep of former politicians who failed to take the lead in t'he recent crisis. The only ex-councillor Remaining is M. Pierre Berges, of Lafoa, who is a supporter of General de Gaulle. The new body, which the administrator (M. S,autot) has announced, is practically colonial born and embraces seven country and five Noumea representatives. All are adherents to General de Gaulle.

The colony is hoping for a favourable outcome of the New York conference between Canadian and New Caledonian nickel interests.
