Complete Company Is Kamo Aim
At its first parade last night the Kamo Home Guard recorded a total enrolment of 104 men. It was a splendid attendance, and the aim is to organise at Kamo a complete company of four platoons (totalling 120 men), comprising personnel from Kamo and surrounding districts. By special request, Lieutenant Booth, of Whangarei, attended the parade and swore in guardsmen. In thanking Lieutenant Booth, the chairman (Mr H. L. Younger) paid tribute to the expeditious manner in which the officer had carried out his duties, having sworn in eight men before the parade commenced. Kamo Praised. Lieutenant Booth spoke highly of Kamo’s numerical strength compared with the district, and described the response as ‘‘wonderful.” Mr C. C. Tills, who has had considerable military experience, was unanimously elected acting platoon commander. The management committee was elected as follows:—Messrs H. L. Younger (chairman), R. Whitelaw (hon. secretary), R. Buckley, J. Hooper, S. J. Peters, Noel Wilkinson (Kamo), R. M. Campbell (Three Mile Bush) and W. J. Bell (Kauri).
