Plunket Flower Show At Umawera

i On Saturday, at Umawera, a successful flower show was held in the hall in aid of funds for the local Plunket Society. The display of flowers was very good, and many fine specimens were shown.

, Gladioli, exhibited by Mr. F. M. Shepherd, of Broadwood, were especially fine in formation, size and colour mixture, and received considerable attention.

A stall in charge of Mesdames W. ,H. Robinson, O. O. Perry and K. Harrison dic'j; good business, as did the luncheon and afternoon tea stall in charge of Mesdames J. V. M. Cauty, G. Neil and J. Walker. The sum of £l2/6/5 was netted.

A weight-guessing competition was won by Mrs. O. O. Perry, and another contest saw a tie between Mrs. J. Gray and Mrs. C. H. Porritt.

Winners of points prizes for the most successful entries were Mesdames R. Harrison. 1 and K. Harrison 2. Mrs. E. P. May was third. The flowers and vegetables were judged by Mr. Robert McFarlane of Tutekehua, and Mrs. B. Ogle was chief steward.
