Suppressed—Two Turkish newspapers have been suppressed indefinitely for a cartoon and an article insulting Italy, states a message from Istanbul.
Spitfire Funds. The Gold Coast Spitfire Fund has now reached £50,000, states the Ministry for Aircraft Production. The "South China Morning Post” newspaper has sent a further £2OOO for the purchase of aircraft.
War Savings. The British War Savings Campaign figure last week totalled £108,109,000, a remarkable figure in view of the successful start made within recent weeks for the £475,000,000 aimed at in the first year of the campaign. This brings the grand total to £490,800,82G.
Dutch Submarine. —An official report says that a Dutch submarine was lost during war operations.
Riot.—Seven persons were killed and nine injured in a riot in an Egyptian internment camp, states the Egyptian Ministry for the Interior. Some alien undesirables were confined in the camp. The prisoners attacked the guards with lead piping. The guards, after having fired a blank volley, used live ammunition and order was restored.
Gallafcat Area. —Sunday night British patrols continued extensive activities in the Gallabat area in the Sudan, •while the artillery again successfully engaged enemy targets. There is nothing to report on other fronts.
'Shot Down.—lt is Officially stated that R.A.F. fighters shot, down an enemy bomber in the North Sea yesterday afternoon,
