Pensioners’ Position When Drawn In Ballot

The position regarding pensioners drawn in ballots for military service was clarified this morning by the Northland Area Officer (Major H. P. Conyers-Brown). He indicated that arrangements had been completed whereby, in the case ox recipients of invalid benefits or war disablement pensions who were drawn in ballots, the usual medical examination would be deferred. It would, be necessary, however, he said, for persons in thes ecategories to acquaint him with the fact that they were pensioners. The appropriate authorities would then be notified that the man’s medical examination had been deferred until such time as a special medical board had had the opportunity of considering his case.
