Mr R. D. Maeklow, of the staff of the Whangarei Public Trust, has been appointed to the position of district manager of the Westport branch, and leaves on Friday next. Mr G. W. Grayson, of Whangarei, and formerly of the Bay of Islands, who suffered a severe fracture of his left thigh when a power pole on which he was working snapped close to the ground, is progressing favourably in the Whangarei Hospital. Selwyn Ronald Blake has been gazetted deputy-registrar of marriages, births and deaths for Whangaroa. Registrars of births and deaths of Maoris have been appointed as follows: Awarua: K. H. Fricker; Whangape, D. F. J. Melrose; Kaeo, S. H. Blake.
