Mangonui

A farewell was tendered to Mr Mervyn Wrathall in McKay’s Hall, Mangouui, on the 21st inst. There was a large attendance of well-wishers, including visitors from Oruru, Taipa and Kohufciaru. Dancing was indulged in to music voluntarily provided by Mrs Subritzky, Miss M. Wrathall and Mr S. Harris. Mr J. Feisst acted as M.C. Mr. D. J. McKay made the presentation on behalf of the public. Mr Mervyn Wrathall, who was on leave, had been the guest of Mrs J. Taylor, of Taipa, and departed on Friday morning to return to camp. Mrs H. G. Bright, of Mangonui, is on a visit to Auckland. Visitors to Mangonui during the weekend were Misses Fay Clench and Kathleen Macdonald, and Messrs Fred Audley, Max Cleary and Walter McKay, all of Bayswater, Auckland. Messrs John and Ken Hussey, of Wellington, are holidaying in Mangonui.

Miss Peggy Hemy has returned to Auckland after several weeks’ holiday in Mangonui. Mr E. Henley has returned to Auckland.

Mr V. N. Beasley has returned to Mangonui from Wellington. Miss M. Wilton is in Auckland and is expected back at the weekend. •
