Good Breeze For Star Sailers On Saturday
With a good full-sail breeze, the Star class boats made good time in the 4 first race organised by the Whangarei Cruising Club this season. The course was from the town basin round the Onerahi beacon, finishing at the basin. With only 23secs. between the first and the last boat to cross the line, there was .a bunched start. After handicaps were allowed the finishing order' was: Penguin !, Tere 2, Tainui 3. Boats started at 1.45 p.m. and the finishing time (with handicaps) were: Tiki (scr), 4hr. 34min. 25sec.; Tainui (9m.), 4.34.35; Tere (12m.), 4i.34.58; Penguin (30m), 4.38.15; Vigilant (21m.), 4.50; Rosalie (21m.) did not finish.
