M. Molotoff s guests at Berlin, who included Ribbentrop, Himmler and Ley, stayed in the Embassy until the “all clear” sounded. This was M. Molotoffs first experience of an air raid.

German officials describe the raid as a deliberate attempt to. disturb the banquet. The alarm caught thousands of people in theatres and cinemas. Performances were stopped, and audiences went to the shelters.
