Accommodation For Primers

So congested is space in the infant department of. the Whangarei Primary School that next week 30 pupils will be taught in a wide corridor. In the principal rooms it is difficult for small children to move without touching the desks of their neighbours. With over 20 new admissions since the holidays, the present roll number exceeds 160, while there is a steady stream of five-year-olds being admitted. A visit to the building yesterday revealed that while the staff is making the best posssible use of the space available, an extra room is required urgently, from the point of view of the children’s health, if nothing else.
