PacificTasman Air Link
[Special to “Northern Advocate"] WELLINGTON. This Day.
The Minister in Charge of Civil Aviation (Mr. Jones) announced last night an experimental timetable for the Tasman air service to provide a connecting link between the PanAmerican Service from San Francisco to Auckland and the Tasman service to Sydney. Mr.- Jones said that arrangements had been made between the Governments of the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand to provide a third Tasman trip each fortnight, to connect with the Pacific service. Under the new arrangements a flying-boat will leave Auckland for Sydney on Thursday and return, on Sunday of each week.
In the week during which the PanAmerican Clipper arrived, an additional departure would be made from Sydney on the Friday, and irom Auckland on the Saturday. The Minister said the new timetable would be regarded as of an experimental nature for a period, until experience enabled a better judgment to be formed on the service that would be required.
