The Tie That Binds

[Per Press Association. Copyright.!

WELLINGTON, This Day.

“It is remax-kable the number of New Zealanders with relatives in England,” remarked the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry), replying to a deputation yesterday. “The opportunity given residents of the Dominion to nominate children from five to 16 years of their relatives in England for evacuation to New Zealand has brought to light information that apparently every other family in the Dominion has connections in the Old Country. “Within three days of the definite announcement that our people could nominate children of relatives, I received 1000' nominations, and more h'.ve been pouring in by every mail. “The sentiment of the family tie is deep-rooted, and it is good to realise and appreciate it.”
