Railwayman Respond To Call

Pleasure was expressed by the Minister for Railways (Mr Sullivan) yesterday at the initial response to his appeal for members of the service tG enlist in the two railway operating companies which are being provided for service overseas. The first day’s appeal, he said, resulted in 9G offers of service. Already 1100 members of the railways service had been accepted for service in the overseas forces. The Minister pointed out that, on the railway operating side, it v/as necessary to have a large number of qualified engine-drivei’s and firemen, and he made a special appeal to members of the locomotive running branch to respond to the country’s call in these days of urgent need.
