Paris Carries On Calmly
LONDON, June 6. While the storm rages on the great northern battlefront, Parisians are carrying on calmly. The Paris correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says hundreds of people sat outside cafes yesterday afternoon enjoying the sunshine, undismayed by the news of the great German offensive. The man in the street in Paris believes General Weygand has succeeded in organising deep defences in the interval between the first offensive and the latest attack. The newspapers today advised parents to evacuate their children from Paris. Where homes in the country cannot be found for children, municipalities will take charge of them. The Government has ordered the closing of elementary schools in Paris from Saturday, in consequence of the air raid on Monday, when bombs hit many schools, and killed many children. Early this morning, violent antiaircraft fire was again heard in Central France.
