Goering Orders All F.A.F. Prisoners To Be Shackled
LONDON, May 28. Tho German news agency announced that, after the reported maltreatment of German prisoners in France, Goering ordered all French Air Force prisoners to be shackled immediately after capture and kept in separate camps, also deprived of all allowances. 0 “Every time the murder of a German airman is reported. 25 captured French airmen will be shot,” he declared. “If German airmen are attacked while parachuting for their lives 50 French prisoners will be shot. "These measures will not apply to captured British airmen, as the British have not given any reason for such counter measures.” An earlier message stated: The German military spokesman in Berlin has announced that Germany has withdrawn special privileges accorded to Allied officers who are prisoners of war, including the customary right to receive ,a salute, because of the “undignified treatment metered out to German officers who are prisoners of war in Allied countries.” It is authoritatively stated in London that German officers, who are prisoners in Great Britain, .are given all rights and are treated with every courtesy. Transfer to Colonies? Replying to a suggestion in the House of Commons that prisoners should be transferred to the colonies and dominions, in view of the danger of parachute troops, the Financial Secretary to the War Office (Mr Richard Law) .said that the question of the disposal of prisoners was under consideration.,' * ;
