Woman interrupts Candidate’s Broadcast
(Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 26. The British Broadcasting Corporation abandoned the broadcast of Cardinal Kinsley’s National Prayer Day sermon from Westminster Cathedral, when a woman interjected with cries of “Peace.” Cardinal Hinsley had just said: “There can be no peacf,” when a woman leapt up shouting". Cardinal Hinsley continued the sermon as if he had not heard the interruption. Two or three young men lifted the woman and carried her outside, where she was handed to the police. The Cardinal later repeated his sermon in a special broadcast. The 8.8. C. issued a statement saying the interruption was due to only one woman, who happened to be near the microphone concerned. It was the result of overwhelming religious emotion and had no political significance. No police action will be preferred against the woman.
